Cinnamon and Cardamom Brown Rice

Brown rice flavored with cinnamon and clove.

water 2 cups
(1-inch) piece cinnamon stick 1
cardamom pod 1
salt 1 pinch
whole clove 1
pinch saffron threads 1 large
brown basmati rice, rinsed for 1 minute in a fine sieve 1 cup

In medium saucepan, bring water, cinnamon, cardamom, salt, clove and saffron threads to a boil.


Add the rice, lower the heat, cover and simmer for about 45 minutes until rice is tender.


Remove the whole spices before serving.
